“Why go on a Caravan Rally?”

Hertfordshire Centre promotes friendship and actively looks for new members; we know what we get out of rallying and want others to share the experience.

A rally is like a mobile village of like minded people who enjoy getting together. It can be a field, behind a pub or on a Caravan site etc or can be for the weekend, a long weekend, a Bank Holiday or Holiday and is organised by local Rally Officers. The weekend, or longer, may include socials, this could be a posh frock do, a disco, a games evening etc. You are not obliged to go, for those who just want a quiet weekend away you will not be pushed into joining in but you will find it a lot cheaper than a commercial site.

There is normally no electric hookup on rallies but you should be able to last a weekend on a standard 120Amph battery certainly in the summer months. There will a fresh water tap and a disposal point for your toilet.

Just to get a flavour of what goes on look at our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/753200581778444.

Most of the information about the rallies will be on the website – click on ‘Programme’ and scroll down, pick a rally and use the ‘Online Booking’ button. Your booking will be redirected to the appropriate rally officer. You are asked to pay cash on arrival unless specified on the programme.

There are directions on the rally information either from the website or rally book. Look for the white and yellow ‘Herts’ signs nearer the site. The Rally Officers will be the people you will meet first and will show you where to park. Park with the front drivers-side corner of your caravan near the marker and to park your car on the offside of your caravan. You will be shown where the fresh water tap is and the chemical disposal point.

Usually on the Sunday morning there is Flagpole, where we thank the Rally Officers for organising and running the weekend and to review the forthcoming rallies

What You Need

You may require a few blocks of wood for levelling your van on sloping fields and a dustbin liner to take your dry waste home with you. You will also need a waste water container, this you can empty into an adjacent hedge.
